I am a Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with adults and couples. Over the past 10 years I have worked in community mental health, home based therapy and private practice. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, work stress, anger management, relationship issues, adjustment issues and more in our Allen Park offices. My therapy techniques are tailored to the needs of the client. If you take the first step I'll be here to support you.
I have been a practicing nurse for more than 30 years with experience in both medical and psychiatric settings. I am board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner ( across the lifespan) PMHNP-BC by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. My Doctor of Nursing Practice was earned at the University of Michigan-Flint and undergraduate degree obtained at Oakland University. I am vested in providing holistic evidenced based treatment management to individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness.
I am trained to work with individuals ages six and older; with extensive knowledge in trauma focused therapies and ADHD/ADD. Additionally, my knowledge extends to working with clients diagnosed with dementia and the geriatric population in our Allen Park office.

I have Master of Arts degrees in Community Counseling and Religious Studies from the University of Detroit-Mercy. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy drawing from the cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, person-centered, and psychodynamic traditions. My passion is helping people resolve their depression, grief, anxiety, and past trauma. I commend you for taking the first steps to feeling better and finding peace.

I enjoy working with couples, families, and individuals with a wide range of concerns, with an emphasis on treating clients struggling with depression, anxiety, and interpersonal relationships. I have experience using CBT methodologies to examine thought patterns and their relationship with emotion and behavior. I am skilled at examining dynamics within relationships and drawing upon family of origin influences and communication patterns that both facilitate growth and keep us stuck. I also have experience in applied behavior analysis with children and teens that help parents and caregivers gain a better understanding of the expression and function of behavior.
My passion is helping children through numerous developmental issues, clients with ADHD navigate issues with work and school, couples navigate relationship issues, and clients understand and improve their experiences with bipolar disorder. I provide marriage counseling, family counseling, anxiety counseling, depression counseling, and more in our Livonia office.

My passion is guiding children, adolescence, and young adults through various developmental issues, managing and coping with stress, anxiety, depression, crisis intervention, and life adjustments. I utilize a person-centered, self-reflective, and here and now approach. I have a specialization in Marriage and couples counseling. When it comes to marriage and couples counseling, I view the family unit as a whole unit. My undergrad background is rooted in psychology with a minor in substance use. I am currently completing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Couples counseling from Walden University. I provide counseling to all ages out of our Livonia office.

I graduated from the University of Michigan with my MSW in 2010. My degree focused on counseling of individuals, small groups, and families with a health concentration. Hello, my name is Hayley Alkhafaji and I am so glad that you are here. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with clinical specialization (LMSW). I primarily work with the youth, adolescent, and young adult population. I utilize a strengths based, person centered, and trauma informed approach. I use a variety of treatment modalities and approaches including trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and play therapy, including sand tray. I also use interventions associated with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and narrative therapy. I enjoy incorporating mindfulness based techniques and approaches, inner child healing, and bringing awareness to the mind and body connection. I use an integrative approach which is a flexible approach that combines techniques from various treatment modalities. I use this approach to create customized treatment specifically tailored to each unique individual. I treat a variety of mental health diagnoses and their associated symptoms including but not limited to depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma related disorders, disruptive and behavioral related disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, suicidal ideation, self harming, and symptoms of borderline personality disorder. Dr. Tanya Martin is a Clinical Psychologist, Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, Author and Motivational Speaker. She provides therapy, along with, a myriad of mental health services for adults. She also serves as the Vice-Chair, on the Board of Trustees, at the Michigan School of Psychology; her alma mater. She was a College Professor at Henry Ford College and Oakland Community Colleges for several years and was awarded Outstanding Adjunct Faculty of the year, in 2014 by, Oakland Community College. She also founded the “Positive Change” Group at Greater Quinn AME Church, for individuals in need of basic supports. Dr. Martin is also an Author of 2-Self-Help Books, “QUOTES AND ANECDOTES, On How to Avoid the, “YEAH BUT SYNDROME” & “DOING LIFE AFRAID”. Overall, Dr. Martin is very interested & passionate about, assisting others in need, as well as, helping them to, bring about, positive change in their lives.

In my spare time, I enjoy photography, writing, and hiking with my family and our pug dog, Banjo.
